In a traditional DevOps environment, observability is used to monitor system health. In an agentic environment, observability is a prerequisite for economic viability. Automation waste occurs when agents engage in hallucinatory loops continuously trying the same failing tool call or navigating a circular reasoning path.

This goes beyond basic logging to include the visualization of the agent's internal thought process (Chain of Thought) alongside its external actions. By analyzing these traces in real-time, the infrastructure can identify patterns of inefficiency. For AI agents to reach their full potential, the industry must move toward interoperability. This fragmentation prevents the creation of agentic ecosystems where specialized agents collaborate on complex tasks.

It must manage the gravity of data the fact that moving large datasets to an agent is more expensive than moving the agent’s logic to the data. A robust interaction layer can intelligently route agent sub-tasks to the environment where the necessary data resides, minimizing latency and egress costs.
